Simple instructions

As a fan of Nadia Clark, I naturally ordered her book as soon as it was available in print. After skimming through it a couple of times, I finally made up my mind to actually follow her simple instructions. I decided to start with Mind Map One, since I was already familiar with tapping.

Surprised at what emerged

Using a fresh but what I thought was a very minor incident, I was totally surprised at the quantity, variety, and depth of what emerged as I progressed from filling in the circles to beginning to tap. I ended up with 18 circles naming feelings, thoughts, evaluations and observations related to this recent occurrence that had a bit of a “charge” but didn’t seem that significant.

As recommended in Chapter 6 THE ESSENTIAL NEED FOR SUPPORT, I then used Mind Map Two to jot down six feelings, thoughts, and observations related to no witnesses. Nadia’s perceptive lists of questions and her intuitive insights relating to the pain, hurt, and fear of feeling unsupported finally brought all my tearful emotions to the surface.

Positive reframing process

I am so grateful for the inclusion of Chapter 8 THE DESIRED FEELINGS! For this positive reframing process, I decided to make my own Mind Map Three with “I choose to…” in the center. I made nine circles, including “I choose to notice my breath” and “I choose to be grateful.” Tapping on my anxiety after a put-down or when I anticipate a put-down coming, and tapping on what I choose to feel instead, is very liberating.

Powerful!

Finally, I so appreciate Nadia’s insight showing up in Chapter 9 FROM SELF-BULLYING TO SELF-LOVE. By following Nadia’s recipe, starting with the pain of being taken down by hurtful words from others, tapping on negative beliefs about ourselves, and then on what we choose to believe about ourselves instead, we can learn to speak to ourselves tenderly, to stop bullying ourselves, and to choose to live life while loving ourselves. This is powerful!

Impact on our lives

I learned about and used EFT some 10 years ago, when I was going through a work transition. I had forgotten about the impact this practice can have on our lives.

I am currently going through a divorce, while at the same time working on the CoVID front lines attending to the fears of patients and staff. My husband has requested that our daughters stay with him until the CoVID situation has diminished. While managing the fear and uncertainty of a new life, I have been separated from my amazing and beautiful daughters.

The power of shifting our conscious thoughts

This re-introduction to EFT was in perfect timing. Nadia’s explanation of the power of shifting our conscious thoughts reminded me that I can do something to help with my loneliness, anxiety, sadness and fears. I can’t change what is happening in the world, but I can take a stand for managing myself powerfully and with peace of mind.

Regain peace and calm

I started using EFT again after reading Nadia’s book. I can honestly say I catch myself earlier when my heart rate increases and I feel the overwhelm of emotions coming on. I have used EFT to help manage these emotions and regain some peace and calm within my physical and emotional sense.

Thank you Nadia, for your words and compassion, and for sharing the remarkable power found in EFT.

EFT is like active meditation

I am not at the mercy of what’s happening. I can be intentional in how I deal with the stress. EFT is like active meditation. I discover my true feelings, worries, and concerns and get them out of my sub-conscience. No matter how ‘silly’ or ‘absurd’ these feelings that come pouring out of my soul are, EFT has given me access to process them and, most importantly, to shift them.
